Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Flower Remedies are a system of 38 homeopathic medicines created by a Harley Street physician called Dr Edward Bach and have been in use since the 1930’s. They work not by healing the physical symptoms but instead treat the individual on an emotional level.

The remedies help with many different feelings form fear and phobias, lack of interest in life, low energy, despondency, despair and depression, stress and impatience, as well as lack of confidence, low self esteem, feelings of loneliness or being over burdened by responsibilities, lack of focus, indecision, reducing feelings of anger, jealousy and suspicion and hatred, lack of self love, transitional periods such as moving house, redundancy, relationship break up and bereavement and preoccupied continuous thoughts. They are especially helpful in crisis situations such as at exams times, fear of flying and before a driving test.

The remedies can also help with children with childhood issues such as bullying, starting a new school, shyness and improve study time focusing the mind. They are totally natural, made only of the energetic makeup of the plant, flower or trees whose essence they capture and can be taken by young and old alike and even animals benefit from the remedies.

All of the remedies were selected from around the British countryside after extensive research by Dr Bach, and offer relief to suffering by encouraging harmony and balance away from emotional discord. Dr Bach believed that when the emotional state of an individual is harmonious, then physical healing takes place naturally.

During a consultation, the client is encouraged to discuss how they are feeling and identify areas of weakness or stress. It is not necessary to give details of why or what is causing these feelings, but just to get in touch with the emotional impact. All record details are kept confidential and act as a reference of progress for client and therapist.

Towards the end of the consultation, the practitioner will select a number of remedies (normally up to 6 or 7) and a personal treatment bottle is prepared for you to take away. There are many different combinations that the remedies can be prescribed in and each blend is unique to your current emotional feelings and needs.

The remedies are taken orally, 4 drops on or underneath the tongue, 4 times a day. Initially, they can be used more frequently if feeling particularly out of balance, but it is important to remember to take them first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

The remedies have a gradual effect and do not work faster if you take more than four drops at a time, but work best over a period of about three to four weeks depending on how deeply rooted your feelings are. The drops can be placed into hot or cold drinks enabling you to take them discreetly while out and about or at work.

A follow up appointment is normally advisable after around four weeks and another consultation takes place to discuss changes in feelings, attitudes and behaviour. It also allows for a review of the personal treatment remedies to be revises in light of the progress made.
